Description
Travel back to the Middle Age with this castle route in Les Garrigues. You won’t only visit them, but you will also stay in one of them, in La Floresta Castle.
This fortress was Pallars Counts’ residence, Cardona and Merinaceli’s Dukes, with magnificent rooms, antique furniture and extraordinary medieval decoration.
In L’Albi, you will walk through its cobbled streets, its church and the medieval castle runes, owned by L’Albi’s Barons, which became one of the most sumptuous
fortifications in Catalonia.
You will visit another residence of Cardona’s Dukes in Arbeca, the most influential family in Aragon’s Crown, on a slow walking tour through the old town and church.
This trip ends in L’Espluga Calba, where you will visit its impressive 15th century castle, belonging to Malta’s Order.
You can also learn history with a virtual reality tour, Bandits and Knights, which explains the events that took place in L’Espluga Calba during the first part of the 18th century.

It is the result of the footprint that over the centuries left the noble families of the Counts of Pallars, Dukes of Cardona and Merinaceli, and that has rooms with magnificent coffered ceilings.

Iberian Fortress of Vilars in Arbeca
Activity. The Iberian village of the Vilars is situated in a plain. This archeological site has one of the most interesting defense systems of the iron age, avoiding attacks and also a sophisticated channeling of water.
L’Albi
Activity. Discover the most fascinating sites of Albi, a town located in the south-east of Les Garrigues. Oriol will guide you through the history of its cobbled streets, the church and the remains of the medieval castle. In the second part of the tour, you will visit two UNESCO World Heritage sites with cave paintings. These are the cave paintings of “els Punts” and “la Roca del Vaixell”.
The visit ends in the curious rock called Espiral, engraved more than 3,000 years ago, which releases high energy levels.
