Charming villages from les Garrigues for groups

A small group trip to discover some villages from Les Garrigues such as Les Borges Blanques, Arbeca, La Floresta, Espluga Calba and L’Albi.

This itinerary will start in Lleida visiting the monumental complex of Seu Vella and the King’s Castle, where we will have views of Lleida landscapes.

We will continue to Les Garrigues, where we will visit the capital of the region, Les Borges Blanques. The town bellringer will show us all curiosities of the bell tower. After this, we will travel back in time in Cal Pauet Museum, a private collection of items from the 1960s.

We will walk through Arbeca’s historic center, and we will discover St. Jaume’s church and the remains of the castle.

We will visit the pearl of the village, the Iberian Fortress of Vilars.

We will also know the history of two medieval castles, La Floresta and Espluga Calba, essentials for the region defense.

We will finish this trip with a fascinating tour in L’Albi, where we will walk around the historical center, the church and the remains of its castle.

DAY 1: LLEIDA

• Arrival at Lleida – Pirineus Station and pick-up with a minibus.
• Guided tour to the monumental complex of la Seu Vella and King’s Castle.
• Luch at La Masia’s Restaurant
• Transfer to Hostal Benet and check-in.
• Dinner and accommodation.

DAY 2: LES BORGES BLANQUES

• Breakfast
• Guided tour to Assumpció’s church in Les Borges Blanques, and the bell tower.
• Degustation menu at Hostal Benet.
• Guided visit to Cal Pauet’s Museum.
• Dinner and accommodation.

DAY 3: ARBECA

• Breakfast and transfer to Arbeca.
• Guided walk through Arbeca’s historic center, St. Jaume’s church and the remains of the castle.
• Lunch at La Placeta’s Restaurant.
• Guided tour to Iberian Fortress of Vilars.
• Dinner and accommodation.

DAY 4 : ESPLUGA CALBA – LA FLORESTA

• Breakfast and transfer to Espluga Calba.
• Guided visit to the castle.
• Lunch at El Drac’s Restaurant in Els Omellons Guided visit to La Floresta’s castle and church.
• Dinner and accommodation.

DAY 5 : L’ALBI

• Breakfast and transfer to L’Albi.
• Guided walk through L’Albi’s historic center, Sta. Maria’s church and the remains of the castle.

• Balma dels Punts” and the “Roca del Vaixell”, and the spiral stone.

DAY 6 : RETURN

• Breakfast and transfer to Lleida.

Hostal Benet

Accomodation. Hostal Benet is located in the arcaded square of Les Borges Blanques in a fully restored old building with 900m2 of accommodation that has a cozy
dining room and comfortable rooms with bathroom, TV, heating, air conditioning, wifi, etc.

La Floresta Castle

Activity. Declared Cultural Asset of National Interest. In this fort there is a lot of art styles like late Romanesque, Gothic, the Renaissance and Baroque. It is the result of the footprint that over the centuries left the noble families of the Counts of Pallars, Dukes of Cardona and Merinaceli. The castle has rooms with magnificent coffered ceilings, ancient furniture and an extraordinary medieval decoration.

Iberian Fortress of Vilars in Arbeca

Activity. The Iberian village of the Vilars is situated in a plain. This archeological site has one of the most interesting defense systems of the iron age, avoiding attacks and also a sophisticated channeling of water.

L’Albi

Activity. Discover the most fascinating sites of Albi, a town located in the south-east of Les Garrigues. Oriol will guide you through the history of its cobbled streets, the church and the remains of the medieval castle. In the second part of the tour, you will visit two UNESCO World Heritage sites with cave paintings. These are the cave paintings of “els Punts” and “la Roca del Vaixell”.
The visit ends in the curious rock called Espiral, engraved more than 3,000 years ago, which releases high energy levels.
